Total Compensation Survey

Download Sample Survey

RLS is an industry leader in negotiating collective bargaining agreements for public safety employees, and our Public Safety Compensation Survey and Financial Assessment tool is critical to your association’s success at the table.

Success in your negotiations hinge on your ability to convincingly answer these questions:

How will you demonstrate to a disbelieving employer your members are under-compensated?

Why is it in your employer’s interest to pay your members more or provide better benefits?

How will you justify your bargaining proposals to an elected body with limited resources?

Your members are doomed at the bargaining table if you cannot provide answers to these questions, backed by irrefutable statistics and analysis.

Compensation Survey

RLS created the comprehensive compensation survey so you know where you stand in the market. Our team compiles a comprehensive data-set for each surveyed jurisdiction in the labor market that spans an employee’s entire 30-year career. The RLS Compensation Survey tracks elements of total compensation by year of appointment to account for tiered benefits, separate benefits received by PEPRA members versus Classic members and disparate longevity plans.

In addition the RLS compensation survey includes a survey of attainable compensation for serving in special assignments:

Financial Assessment

Determining the employer’s ability to pay is equally critical to achieving results for your members.  The RLS Financial Assessment reviews the employer’s past financial performance and then prospectively analyzes economic trends to gauge its financial health. Our analyses are battle-tested in arbitrations and fact finding; you can trust in their accuracy and depth.

Labor Market Analysis

We collate compensation data from comparable agencies so you can leverage it in negotiations. See how you compare to the market and use the survey data in combination with our full financial analysis to optimize your proposal.

RLS: Your Ultimate Backup in negotiations

An integrated and comprehensive approach is critical to achieving an outcome that most benefits your members and that process begins with an RLS Public Safety Compensation Survey and Financial Assessment. Our team of attorneys, labor representatives and consultants are ready to assist your labor organization in preparing for and negotiating your next contract.
