A former San Rafael police officer who was fired after a violent arrest that sparked protests in the city should be reinstated to his job, a state-appointed arbitrator ruled.
Brandon Nail, who is still facing criminal charges over the incident, appealed his dismissal from the force in 2023. The arbitrator reviewed the evidence in the case to see if the city had just cause to fire him.
