We are extremely proud to announce that Rains Lucia Stern, PC partner Terry Bowman has been selected by Santa Clara District Attorney Jeff Rosen as Assistant District Attorney, the highest level appointment in the Santa Clara District Attorney’s Office. Terry will be leaving our firm on December 5th for this prestigious position, having worked in a variety of assignments as a prosecutor with that office before joining Rains Lucia Stern in 2003.
For those RLS clients who have been represented by Terry, you know and understand what a great lawyer and person she is. All of us at Rains Lucia Stern have seen Terry’s demonstrated passion for the representation of our clients and acknowledge the wealth of victories she has achieved for our clients during these past eight years.
When Terry informed us of her appointment to this position, she insisted that our message to our clients include this statement from her:
It has been an honor for me to be a lawyer at the best police defense law firm in the State of California and to have worked with other lawyers who have a singular commitment to represent their clients tenaciously, professionally, and ethically. Rains Lucia Stern has an outstanding reputation for the legal work it performs for its clients which it has earned by the representation it provides to its clients. I have enjoyed being part of building and maintaining that reputation as a member of the firm.
For those of our valued clients located particularly in Santa Clara County and Monterey County who have called on Terry for representation, we intend to announce our plan for continued legal representation of the highest caliber in the next few days.
Mike Rains will oversee transition of Terry’s work and will be actively involved in representing clients in both Santa Clara County and Monterey County in the immediate aftermath of Terry’s departure. Phone calls for representation should continue to be made directly to our Pleasant Hill office and will be handled promptly by our intake staff and reviewed and evaluated by Mike personally.
One of the most important aspects of the firm’s representation of public safety clients is the solid relationship Rains Lucia Stern maintains with both state and federal prosecutors. This relationship leads to important and candid discourse with prosecutorial authorities who are examining allegations of potential criminal wrongdoing against our clients. Our relationship with prosecutors often leads to the resolution of those cases without the expense and the indignity of the client suffering from criminal prosecutions.
Over the years, Rains Lucia Stern, PC has maintained a very honest and open rapport with the Santa Clara County District Attorney’s Office, which has benefited our Santa Clara County clients. We certainly acknowledge that Terry’s stature and position in that office will solidify the open communications we have enjoyed with that office through the years, and which have proven to be so beneficial to our clients.
Terry will be attending next week’s PORAC Conference in Reno, where she is hoping to have the opportunity to say a formal goodbye to all our clients. Finally, on a personal note to Terry: On behalf of all our partners, associates and office staff, Terry, we wish you the best. We will miss you!
