Peter Hoffmann is senior labor counsel at Rains Lucia Stern St. Phalle & Silver, PC (“RLS”) and chairs the firm’s Collective Bargaining Practice Group.  He has extensive experience in representing and advising labor associations on all matters, including contract negotiations, grievances, unfair labor practices, bargaining unit certifications and modifications, meet and confer rights, pension rights, retirement benefits, mediation, and arbitration.  Peter has negotiated numerous collective bargaining agreements for labor clients.

Peter has successfully litigated a number of collective actions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (“FLSA”), enforcing the wage and hour rights of thousands of the firm’s individual clients. He also has extensive experience representing individual peace officers in administrative matters, critical incidents, internal affairs investigations, and disciplinary arbitrations.

As a guest speaker and instructor, Peter offers his perspective and advice at classes, seminars, and forums on collective bargaining, the Fair Labor Standards Act, pension and retirement rights, and unfair labor practices. He has been a speaker at seminars and events sponsored by the Peace Officers Research Association of California and CalPELRA.

Peter graduated magna cum laude from Loyola Marymount University while playing on the lacrosse team.  He earned his law degree from Santa Clara University where he was a member of the Santa Clara Law Review.  He has published articles in The Journal of Consumer Affairs and the California Labor & Employment Bulletin.  Peter was admitted to practice law in California in 2007 and is also admitted to practice in the Northern, Central, and Eastern Districts of the federal courts in California.
