Since 2009, Jason has primarily worked in the field of criminal defense, with a particular focus on post-conviction appeals and writs in murder and other serious cases. He has represented clients at all stages of the process, from arraignments to parole hearings, in both state and federal courts. He has obtained a number of major victories, including securing the pretrial release of a young man wrongly accused of a murder to which he falsely confessed, and reversals of three first-degree murder convictions on habeas corpus review.
Jason attended Virginia Commonwealth University in his hometown of Richmond, VA, where he graduated summa cum laude with a 4.0 GPA, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics, with minors in Chemistry and Mathematics. He received his Juris Doctorate degree from UC Law San Francisco (formerly UC Hastings).
Jason is admitted to practice in all California state courts; federal district courts in the Northern, Central, and Eastern Districts of California; and the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, where he has appeared for oral argument on several occasions.
