If you are injured, preserve your rights by following these four basic steps.
Safety:
Make sure you and others are out of the danger zone. If your injury is work-related, contact your supervisor immediately to report the injury.
Health:
Seek medical attention as soon as possible from the proper type of health care provider for your injury or medical condition. If it is a work-related injury, you will need to specifically indetify a workers' compensation physician willing to act as your primary treating physician.
Evidence:
Preserve all evidence: physical items, photographs, witnesses, etc.
Know Your Rights:
Protect yourself by speaking to an attorney as soon as you can to learn your rights and ensure that you are propoerly presenting the facts and preserving evidence. If it's a work-related injury, an attorney can ensure that you are receiving the workers' compensation benefits you are entitled to, including salary continuation and medical treatment.
