Internal Affairs Investigations (Dublin, CA)

RLS principal Michael L. Rains will be teaching during this Internal Affairs Investigations course hosted at the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office Regional Training Center beginning September 9th, 2026.
This Internal Affairs Investigation Course provides the the law enforcement professional the necessary skills to perform an effective, thorough and defensible internal affairs investigation. The course facilitators utilize facilitated discussion, small group activities, case studies and real-life scenarios. Students are encouraged to bring a lap-top computer and their agency’s internal affairs investigation policy. Students will receive all course content electronically.
During this 24-hour course students will:

identify the theory, purpose, and impact of Internal Affairs Units

evaluate management, labor and legal priorities

formulate investigative skills and techniques related to successfully conducting and completing a fair, impartial and ethical internal affairs investigation
Students must successfully complete a practical skills application during a scenario on the third day of the course.
