Amy A. Johnson is a senior associate attorney working with the Rains Lucia Stern St. Phalle & Silver, PC (“RLS”) Legal Defense of Peace Officers Practice Group. Amy represents peace officers in administrative investigations, disciplinary appeals, critical incident investigations, and criminal investigations.
Amy grew up in Southern California and attended college at the University of San Francisco where she majored in Politics and Legal Studies. After graduating magna cum laude, she attended law school at Pepperdine School of Law where she received the CALI Award and Witkin Award for Police Practices.
Upon graduation and admission to the California state bar in 2013, Amy worked as a Volunteer City Attorney at the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office. After leaving the City Attorney’s Office, Amy joined the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office as a Deputy District Attorney. As a prosecutor, Amy tried over twenty criminal jury trials to verdict in the areas of petty theft, driving under the influence, battery, domestic violence, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Prior to joining RLS, Amy worked at a labor law firm exclusively defending peace officers in the Southern California area. She has experience in internal affairs interviews, force review investigations, officer involved shootings, grievances, Skelly hearings, arbitrations, and civil service hearings.
Amy is licensed to practice in all California state courts and the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California.
