Synopsis:
Today, Alameda County District Attorney Pamela Price filed a misdemeanor complaint against Amilcar "Butch" Ford, a former prosecutor in her office. The complaint alleges Ford shared confidential work product with defense counsel in violation of California's Business and Profession Code.
RLS principal Michael L. Rains represents Amilcar Ford against the allegation.
The complaint stems from a time when Amilcar Ford represented Jason Fletcher, a San Leandro Police Officer accused of manslaughter in an officer-involved shooting that went viral in 2020. Pamela Price alleges that Amilcar Ford shared confidential work-product with the defense that was later used in the defendant's motion to recluse the Alameda County District Attorney's office from the prosecution.
Ford, now a prosecutor at the San Francisco District Attorney's office, believes he was acting as a whistleblower. Ford has also submitted a complaint to Alameda County.
