Two of three Ventura County sheriff’s deputies who were threatened with termination after being accused of having sex on the job have resigned.
Deputies Donald R. Simmons, 32, and Kevin L. Wiseman, 28, resigned in late February after undergoing an administrative hearing about whether they had sex with women while on the job, said their attorney, Ken Yuwiler.
Another deputy, 28-year-old Joseph M. Preciado, was suspended for a month and then reassigned to work at the County Jail.
Yuwiler said he could not comment on the deputies’ decision to the leave the department, but said they were not fired.
“They resigned voluntarily,” he said.
A day after Christmas last year the three each received letters notifying them that they would be dismissed for the alleged misconduct, department sources said. No criminal charges were ever contemplated, the sources said.
The three deputies were all assigned to the Fillmore station during the alleged incidents, and according to department sources were alleged to have picked up women at a local McDonalds and then driven them to a remote location for sex.
