Seth Merrick leads the workers’ compensation team in Rains Lucia Stern’s Injury Resource and Litigation Group. Seth has dedicated his legal career to assisting individuals, peace officers and firefighters injured on the job.

Seth’s experience with workers’ compensation, employment and retirement law allow Rains Lucia Stern to offer an even more complete legal solution for our clients. As the team leader on all workers’ compensation issues, Seth represents clients with complex workers’ compensation needs, including those with personal injury claims and those with more serious work related injuries requiring guidance with respect to medical treatment and retirement. He has successfully represented California peace officers from local, county and state agencies in their retirement proceedings.

Seth’s experience also includes litigating cases under the California Fair Employment and Housing Act, the U.S. Americans with Disabilities Act, Federal and State Wage and Hour laws and the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act.

Seth is admitted to practice law in California State and Federal Courts and is a member of the State Bar of California Workers Compensation and Employment Law Sections, the Bar Association of San Francisco and the California Applicants Attorneys Association.

Seth graduated from the University of Washington in 1998, where he was on the Dean’s List with honors. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2003, where he obtained a certificate in International and Comparative Law with honors.

Seth lives in San Francisco with his wife and two children.
