Doug Foley is an associate in the Legal Defense of Peace Officers Practice Group. He represents peace officers in administrative, disciplinary, critical incidents, and criminal defense matters. Doug has significant trial and courtroom experience, having tried close to twenty criminal cases and spent most days in court during his three and a half years at the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office. Doug’s experience as a prosecutor includes both misdemeanor and felony trials, including those involving serious and violent felonies and crimes against police officers. He also wrote and litigated numerous motions, presented cases to the grand jury, and served as a juvenile prosecutor litigating serious juvenile cases. Recently, he and Justin Buffington were successful in winning back the stripes of a demoted Oakland sergeant who was accused of neglect of duty and failure to supervise.
Doug graduated cum laude from the University of Utah earning a degree in sociology with an emphasis on criminology, and earned his law degree at the S.J. Quinney College of Law at the University of Utah.
